Adobe Acrobat 8.0 - Acrotray.exe question...

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional installed on my computer. I have Norton Internet Security installed as well. Last evening, I noticed that Norton notified me that Actrotray.exe was trying to access the Internet. Why must Acrotray.exe access the Internet?

Thanks...

http://forums.pcworld.com/images/emoticons/grin.gif Hi :

I would NOT have either product on my computer; however, a Search for an Answer

should begin at http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/ . You do realize you are

using an outdated version of Adobe !?

Re: Adobe Acrobat 8.0 - Acrotray.exe question...

It uses the internet connection to run inside of your web browser - allowing you to be able to view pdf images inside your browser and to view pdf's from the internet. It also connects in order to check for program updates and security fixes.

Some freeware alternatives (if using Windows). For a pdf viewer I suggest FoxitI - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/ - If you just need a pdf viewer the free/lite version will fit all your needs. For a pdf creator/printer I like to use PDFCreator - http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ . It installs the creation tool as a printer in windows - much like Acrobat Pro does.

I also use foxit reader and love it, but the thing is he bought the professional edition i believe, so i doubt he would want to change to freeware.
