Re: Missing NTLDR
How are you reinstalling XP?

You should be using an install disc, not a recovery disc. When you are asked if you want to reformat the HD, do so.

Re: Missing NTLDR
Yes, that Kill Disk software Formats the HDD and you need an installation Disk to Boot. You really don't need this software if you are going to reuse the HDD. The Windows Installation Disk has a Format option and then you load Windows.

Re: Missing NTLDR

Please make sure your boot setting in BIOS. Make sure its booting order is from cd first and then hard drive later. If its new hard drive it does't have boot file to start with. If you are trying to boot with CD, Then it should ask you this message " press any key to boot from CD". Hope it helps. please let us konw how u resolve it.

Re: Missing NTLDR
The file NTLDR is located in the directory i386 on the XP install disc. If you have the ability to look at files on that disc, see if you can find it and then see if you can copy it to any directory. This will see if the file is defective or if that sector of the CD in unreadable.

On the HD, the file should be located in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386. With SP1 (my original inst) it's about 229KB, with SP2 it's about 245KB.

Re: Missing NTLDR
That Kill Disc wipes everything out, so now you need a Standard Installation Disk. You boot-up from the Disc and install Windows. You need just a re-installation Disc and use your Key.
