Survey: service/support provided by laptop manufacturers

Hi everyone,
I am just conducting a research about the level of service/support provided by different laptop manufacturers.
I found many interesting articles from various sources, but I thought I need to consider the experiences of evey day final users of laptop PC.
So I thought to start this survey on PC World, asking you to share with me some information about your personal experience with service/support for laptop (both delighting experiences and bad experiences) and your knowledge about studies, articles, blank papers etc. on the argument.

Greetings,

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2006499,00.asp is a link to the reader's survey done by PC Magazine that would be my suggestion. You may also want to consider going through sites like http://www.notebookreview.com which likely have tons of experiences shared as well as possibly some of the bigger gripes about laptops like an inability to upgrade the video card in most cases.

One other point to ponder in this though is what percent of laptops are purchased directly from the manufacturer as opposed to a retailer as well as how many send their laptops to the manufacturer instead of going back to the retailer in that latter case?
