Article: How much ink is left in that cartridge?

Hi

I feel compelled to write-in about my own experience with the Canon Pixma MP780 printer, which I bought in 2005, after reading the above article.

While I can probably imagine that a sub-standard printer would produce the results mentioned in the article, I was surprised to read that the author had claimed that a Canon printer would produce a 45% of unused quantity. This left me with the impression that hordes of PC User fans, after reading the author comments, would skip the Canon printer's aisle in favour of Epson. While I have used both printers, however I felt that the author's experience should not be generalised by to include every printer as I have had my fair share of problems with both.

In my case, I never once opted for the cheaper refills, although many people I have known swear by it, and I do not regret having made that decision as my cartridges are always almost empty once the printer tells me so, not 45% or 8% unused ( a transparent cartridge cannot lie ).

So, in conclusion, I thank the author for his article but as a reader and an avid IT person, I think a balance to this subject is necessary for a more objective view.

Dennis
