Re: Is there a reason to log out of web sites?

hi mph , nice to see you back here.

My experience with this "online user" issue is a bit different. Even after hours of signing out of website , it keeps on showing me as online , even if i clear out the cookies.

I guess only PCW staff members or clearspace developers can tell the exact theory behind this.

Re: Is there a reason to log out of web sites?
Okay, here is what I found out. It actually takes about an hour before one is cleared from the Who's Online list. From what I saw, each time I checked the list, my user name was lower in the list. Here are the screen shots I gathered. Click on each image to enlarge it

All screen shots are from Internet Explorer while signed into PCWorld from Firefox

I cannot speak for anyone else but this is pretty consistent with what I have experienced in the past. My initial time frame of five minutes was way off but this should shed some light on things.

Hi Piyush. Yeah, things have been very hectic for me over the last few months. I am finally settling into a new routine so I should be on here more often.

Did you get the last two shots mixed up? You're still on the list after re-opening Firefox, and you're not in the list (at least not on that page) in the shot of
60 minutes.

Nope, they are not mixed up. The second I reopened Firefox, I did a refresh on Internet Explorer. That produced what you see in the fourth image.

My pleasure, Number. :D That's what this Community is all about, the sharing of information. :D

Yeah, I do some advertising in CL. It is so amazing how many companies advertise on Craigslist. The bulk of my clientele comes from word of mouth.

Re: Is there a reason to log out of web sites?
:D I knew I should have included a screen shot of the second page. :D I can assure you I was not listed on that page. AuroraDizon and another member were on the second page. I'm glad I could shed a bit of light on the subject. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Re: Is there a reason to log out of web sites?

lets make the matters a bit more complex. Lets again see mph's screen shots. This time look for me there. Just after posting my last post in this thread i.e post # 16 (10:08 PM here), i had signed OFF and i m now returning , had another post in another thread (11:51 PM). All this time (approx. 90 minutes), I was offline.

And i m present in all 4 images. Moreover , my position has gone up in that list. ???/

I'll bring this to Bill's, the PCWorld technician, attention. There may be some more light that he can shed on this.
