Hey abrar !!

Welcome to PCWorld Community !

Well , you're not the first here and we will do our best to help.

First , if you still can access the internet but, mostly , access these sites then

download and install these few security programs :

MalwareBytes AntiMalware . Click on the blue link.

Install AND up-date (Very Important)

SUPERAntiSpyware . Click on the blue link .

Install AND up-date (Very Important).

RogueRemover .Click on the blue link.

Install AND up-date (Very Important).

Now PLZ do a FULL SCAN with both of these programs . This will take a while so, Be Patient.

RogueRemover takse but a few seconds.

Once the scans are don, go to both of there LOGS tabs and Copy - Paste what is in the LOGS

in your next post. There are no logs to retrieve from RogueRemover

IF the infections prevent you from connecting to these sites , try this one MajorGeeks.com . [ MajorGeeks|http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=5756&file=9&evp=693ee0b20204960edfd909666f809b26]{size:-3} |FL - USA|{size}]

Now from this same site search for other programs I have mentioned.

IF you still can't seem to connect to ANY of these sites then download from

a Clean PC onto a USB drive and install from the USB to your infected PC

POst back with the logs and any other info . you might have.

Hi Flashorn. Anti-Virus 2008 and 2009 have become two of the hardest viruses to remove. It seems like you have the removal process down to a science. Can you create a Document detail the exact steps one would take to remove either of them?

Re: How to get rid of Antivirus 2009 and Antivirus 2008 popups and spams
:D Hi :

In recent months, many "malware", such as the "Antivirus 2008 & 2009" are constantly

"mutating", therefore the means to completely remove them MUST be under a contant

"Revision" as well . Therefore, it would be a disservice to publish any "Document"

specifying specific "Steps" when those "Steps" would NOT work for the next mutated

Version . As Flash implied, the malware is being developed to the degree that

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, the PRINCIPLE 1st Step used, may not be able to be

downloaded, or possibly installed, or possibly updated, or possibly run . IF this happens, the vast

majority of certified "Malware Removal Specialists" 1st suggest trying the FREE "SDFix" .

Re: How to get rid of Antivirus 2009 and Antivirus 2008 popups and spams

Hey MPH !!

So nice to hear from you !!

Thanks for asking but, as you know , I like to be as precise as I can be when making

a WikiDoc. So, it might take a few days for me to gather all of the info . plus all the

screen shots I will need. As you most likely know, malwarebytes doesn't always

take away everything. There are some residue and the need for specialized tools

which might require Experts in the field . 2008 and 2009 usually will leave a rootkit

behind and MalwareBytes has a hard time with this. So, I will do the Wiki but, will also

have to recommend that there might be a need to visit the Experts.

The disservice would be not doing one at all. The reason we have Documents within this Community is to share important information. In addition, Documents are a central location of information to help those who would not normally know where to find the information.

Documents can be "Revised" just as frequently and as accurately as these malicious files. That is why all members of the Community can revise or update a Document. Any revision or additions would have to go through the original author but it is better than doing nothing.

No problem at all. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I would be more than happy to assist in the creation of the Document or to help find relevant information.

Re: How to get rid of Antivirus 2009 and Antivirus 2008 popups and spams
http://forums.pcworld.com/images/emoticons/grin.gif Hi Abrar :

As Flashorn recommended, should start by trying to use the FREE Malwarebytes

Anti-Malware; IF you have any difficulty running a Scan of this program, let us know .

IF you successfully run a Scan, follow its Recommendations as to "Deleting" WHAT

it found and Post its "Log" as a "Reply" in this Thread .

To reduce the possibility of being re-infected, practise SAFE surfing habits and keep

many of your programs "Updated" to minimize security "leaks". To ascertain possible

"Flaws", you would need to Post the "Uninstall Log" from the FREE "HijackThis"

program, most easily downloaded from http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis .

IF you need more details as to HOW to do this, ask .

P.S. A very good "Starting Point" for dealing with these types of "programs" called

"Rogues" by the malware-fighting community, is the Info available at

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/ .

Re: How to get rid of Antivirus 2009 and Antivirus 2008 popups and spams
Hi Abrar and welcome to the forum. Two Good FREE removal apps are www.Malwarebytes.org & www.SUPERantispyware.com . The best wat to prevent getting infected with antivirus 2008 - 09 is to not download them. To my knowledge they won't auto-install by clicking on a site. They are designed to look like a legitmate App and to entice people to download and install them. Another to look out for is Spyware Guard 2008 as this is rogue program as well. The legitimate one is SpywareGuard 2.2 . You need to have some good antivirus and antispyware apps as weel and keep them updated. You din't say what you were using. coastie65
