Which PC is better?

Hi I have 2 PCs one is a desktop the other a notebook here's the specs:

Compaq Presario V3016US Notebook

1.6 GHz Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology featuring Intel Core Duo processor T2050a2)
2MB L2 Cache
1GB 533MHz DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
80GB 5400RPM
LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVDR/RW with Double Layer Support
14.1 WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Altec Lansing Sound
65W AC adapter
Windows XP Home Edition SP2

Dell Demension E521 (Not yet delivered to my house)

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
17 inch Ultrasharp 1707FP Digital Flat Panel
256MB NVIDIA Geforce 7300LE TurboCache

Windows Vista Home Premium
Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW

My question is, which computer is superior overall? Also, I want to be able to play Counter Strike Source. My notebook won't even load the game. Will my new desktop be able to run it? Thank you!

This is a joke, right? I can't possibly believe you didn't already know which is better if you know what all that stuff is.

The desktop... I bet your desktop would take out my PC in a heartbeat though.

AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.81 Ghz
Biostar NF325-A7 motherboard.
Maxtor 40 Gig HD
Viewsonic 19 inch Hi Def Wide Screen 5ms LCD monitor.
1 gigabytes of ram.

... BUT, my monitor rules ALL.

You could always use a program such as FRAPS >> http://www.fraps.com/ and record frames per second tests on both of your machines when playing Counter-Strike to see which one outperforms the other.

For games, I would take the desktop- though I would upgrade to a dual-core and perhaps a 7600gt card if available. The laptop has a better cpu but half the RAM and integrated graphics. With Vista, you want as much computer as you can get and then some.

Yep, the stats in the OP were probably just copied/pasted from a product description. We all have varying levels of technical expertise, and we should be open to helping everyone, from basic questions to advanced problems. We're all here to learn and grow our knowledge.
