"Better" is subjective. I prefer Firefox because I feel that it is faster, safer, and more configurable than other browsers, and has better features, so I think that it's better than Opera (I've tried both)... But that's just my opinion. I find Opera to be a little too bare bones for my liking. You believe that Opera is better for your own reasons, and likewise, others have their own personal preferences, so there's really no definitive way to say which browser is "better".

Firefox for me. I've used both and prefer Firefox over Opera. You really can't compare the 2 together because they're both very competitive... both have their own things that make themselves good for the user. I have both Opera and Firefox on my computer and Firefox is always the one I go to because it has tabbed browsing, sleak icons, eye candy interface. I also used Firefox before I ever heard about Opera, so Firefox was my first ever open source browser to use after I got tired of IE.

You should probably spend a little more time discovering what Opera can do. There is definitely no way that it can be described as 'bare bones'. I don't keep up with every single feature of every browser, but I am pretty confident that almost any feature Firefox has, Opera had first, and does it better, without having to download and manage additional plugins. In addition to having features Firefox doesn't

Not only does Opera offer 'tabs', and did so from the beggining, but it offers MDI windows, meaning you can tile and organize the web pages within Opera, like you do applications on your desktop. It has always done this, and is superior to any simple 'tabbed' interface. There are also tons of sweet skins, and the interface is far more customizable than Firefox.

Firefox is good... but not faster, safer or better than Opera.

I agree on the subjective part of "which one is better". Firefox and Opera are both great browsers. I prefer Opera. I know it's secure, very fast, light. I prefer Opera's looks and feel. You really can't lose with either one of these browsers.

only thing i dont like about opera is that there's no home button on the toolbar. you have to click the address bar first to bring up the "home" button...is there a shortcut or a way to move the home button to the outside?

other than that, i like opera. simple interface and takes up less resources than firefox.

Enable the 'Main' toolbar, it has a Home button.

Also, you can customize the toolbars and put a home button anywhere you want. Just drag and drop it in the location of your choice. Again showing how customizable the interface of Opera is.
