win32

I have windows xp home ,office 97 pro,512 ram ,amd sempron 3200, My .pps & .xls used to work fine. But now it will send them ,but will not open them when I receive them. I get a Not a valid win 32 application. HELP

Hi fdc1946. Can you please clarify your problem? So far, the only thing that stands out is that you have PowerPoint and Excel files. Please clarify exactly what your problem is so people can help you.

Win 32

My computer will not open .pps & .xls files that are e-mailed to me. I can create and send these files. but cannot open them when I get them by e-mail. My computer used to open them but now it won't. I get a error box that says this is not a valid win32 application. I use outlook express with IE 7. It just will not open the .pps & .xls files. It will open all other attachments.

Okay, you may have a file association problem. Here is how to fix that:

Open Up My Computer (Hold down the key between the left Ctrl & Alt Keys and Hit "E")
Click on Tools
Click on Folder Options
Under Folder Options, Click on the File Types tab
When the list populates, scroll down the list until you see ".pps"
Highlight ".pps" - in the lower portion of that window you will see "Details for PPS Extension
If there is on application next to the words "Open with:" Click on "Change..."
In the next window, you will see a list of applications. Scroll down until you see some form of PowerPoint and then click OK

**Do the same thing for the .xls extension**

PowerPoint 2007

{size:12] I have a new HP Touch Smart PC and just bought MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint 2007 and Outlook. Everything is fine EXCEPT, I just started playing around with making my first PowerPoint show and was successful. I sent it to my sister and she could not open it. I actually have PowerPoint Viewer 2003 and that's how I opened all PPS that I received. I sent links to people with the download of MS PowerPoint Viewer 2003 which is whatt I had before buying the MS program yesterday. Does anyone know why only my husband and I can view the PowerPoint Shows I create? I think that PowerPoint 2007 download is not free, which is a problem, and I doubt anyone can view my shows. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks px}

Hi Susan. First, I would highly advise you to create your own thread. This thread hasn't had any activity in over a month so more than likely, few people will see this.

That being said, I will try my best to help you but if what I suggest does not work, post your own thread. Okay, if a person does not have either Microsoft Office or Microsoft Power Point installed in his or her computer, he or she will not be able to view the file. If you sent an .exe file (the MS PPT Viewer) via email, more than likely it was blocked by the email server. Now a days, the majority of email server will not accept .exe files simply because they can cause a security risks with viruses and spyware.

Here is what you can try. You can send the executable file (.exe) and the presentation (.ppt or .pps) via online storage. I used to use this site called dropload.com but they are out of buisness, I think. I did a search and this site may be good for you:

If I am mistaken on what exactly you are doing, please create a new thread and I will try to see what else I can do.

Absolutely. Look underneath of this post. You will see two buttons. One says "New Topic" and the other says "Post Reply." Click on the "New Topic" button and pretty much do exactly what you have done so far. I will look out for you thread. If my suggestion was not what you needed, post exactly what you have done so far, in full detail so that everyone can help.
