We have word 2202, and I would like to be able to use short-cuts especially on repetitve tasks. How do I do this other than going to the ms help center?:?

Hi onetreeman. I am not exactly sure of your question. Do you just want to get a tutorial on Macros or is there a specific task you would like to learn? Please be more specific in your posts.

Okay, I haven't used 2002 in a LONG time. The best advise I can offer is to direct you to this Microsoft link. I know you don't want to use the Help Center; however, that is why it is there.

Other than that, check out this link and maybe some things will become a bit clearer:

(This link refers to Word 2000; however, the steps are the same.

If you are looking into assigning hotkeys "keyboard shortcuts" to various functions you utilize through the menus you can map them or assign them in the 2003 version of Word, but I am not quite sure with 2002. To assign your hotkeys you can right-click on any toolbar select "customize" and click on the "keyboard" button in the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box that pops up. Through this you can assign shortcut keys to various commands. The only problem with this is that I do not think it was in Word 2002.

If you are interested in recording macros to play back later on using hotkeys you can double click on the grayed out "REC" button on the status bar at the bottom of your screen to start recording a macro. Within the dialog box you can either assign it to a keyboard shortcut or add it as a tool on your toolbar. Prior to recording a macro I usually do a practice run of the macro steps to make sure I have them down pat and do not make mistakes in the middle.

Good Luck and have a great day ;)
