Alienware is the worst company ever!!!!!!

i have an alienware area51 m7700. i had it only 3 mo and it crashed. sent it in to alienware and they replaced the defective mainboard due to a bad hard drive controller. it was like pulling teeth to get it covered. here i am and the laptop is 1.5 years old and im having the same problem. guess what they wont even talk to me. now i have to find a place to buy a new mainboard as they wont even look at the machine.

here is the problem.
pc wont boot up, wouldnt go into bios for a long time till i got an external keyboard. now it just says "no operating system found" the bios can see the hard drive and i have set it up in an array, but it will not boot to the drive. i argued with alienware about the issue for about 2 weeks before they finally gave me an RA number. anyhow its back to the same error and its outside of warranty. where do i go and who can fix it. they wont even respond to my emails. THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!!!! now i have a 3000 dollar paperweight. my goal is to create a website to help let ppl know how rediculous the company is.

does anyone have any ideas where i can get alieware parts? i need a new mainbaord for the m7700.

thanks for any info and help

i have no where to turn and i thought the community here could help me out

IIRC, Alienware isn't an ODM so someone else makes the parts that they use in their systems. You could try sites like http://www.ikenfixit.com/ that do repairs on laptops including Alienware models.

ODM = Original Design Manufacturer. I suppose I could have said OEM which is an original equipment manufacturer. Look up Compal Electronics for an example of such a company which I found from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_design_manufacturer .

No, I don't think so though that is because of the heat issues that those P4 laptops ran into. I would suggest that if you spend a few thousand for a laptop that the extended warranty is something to consider. My laptop has a 2 year warranty on it and it seems yours would have been covered in this case.

swiegert wrote:actually i bought it on ebay from a guy that had it for only 3 months. come to find out the warrranty he said was still in effect is void when he sells the laptop. alienware will not even talk to me because im not the original purchaser. no warranty transfer like all other manufacturers. this is ludicris. so i guess i could part out the notebook. maybe get some money back.

I hate to sound harsh, but I would say that is an issue between you and the person you bought it from. Either he knew the warranty would not transfer and deceived you or he assumed it would transfer. In either case, you assumed the warranty would transfer. I would say that if he knew the warranty would not transfer, then you both share the "blame", but probably him more than you, even if you should not assume things. If he did not know, then you again share the blame, but one could argue maybe you more than he.

Point is that it is not Alienware's fault. It is not that much different if you bought a Ford Focus and then wanted to tow a fifth wheel trailer with it (OK, so this example is MUCH more obvious then your situation). Point is that it is not Alienware's fault that you bought computer assuming the warranty would transfer when their policy was already stated that it would not. In other words, it is not Alienware's fault that you did not do your homework (or that maybe the seller might have deceived you).

Sorry if that was harsh.

Now, whether their customer service is good or not is potentially a whole other issue. They could be in the right but still have crappy customer service. Or they could be in the right and have good customer service, but you just don't like the answer and thus consider it bad customer service. I dunno.

hey guys, Dell bought alienware quite a while ago. Good luck with that one! Dell's customer service is the worst. See my post: Dell Horror story.

Operating system not found usually means
the hard drive is bad. The OS is read from the drive. The ODM sales to Alienware which is basically a barebones with a case and motherboard and Alienware adds drives, memory and processor. Take it to Best Buy and they can look at it for free. If it's a hard drive you can use any hard drive and it doesn't have to be Alienware specific. I'm not aware of which ODM makes that model but I know Clevo makes a couple Alienware models.

I believe Dell bought Alienware in name
only and lets them operate separately. I heard both good and bad stories from Alienware. They do have some loyal users just like Sager does.

alienware worst company only
I wish Dell had left alienware alone. I was fascinated by their area 51 computers. A little too pricey for me, but I used to love reading their specs and drooling.
