Welcome to the new PC World Community!

Welcome to the new PC World community platform! This platform looks very different from what we are all used to, but I encourage you to give it a chance and explore the system. I've posted some wiki documents to help you get started and answer some common questions.

Getting Started on the PC World Community

What is Clearspace?

What's the difference between a document, a blog post, and a discussion?

How do I ask a question in the community?

If someone answers my question, how do I say so?

How do I create a document that other people can work on?

How do I convert a discussion thread to a document?

About the PC World Community Points System

I hope that these are a good starting point for you, and that you will create your own documents as you learn your way around the system. Please tag all documents about the new platform with "clearspace", to make them more findable for everyone. Here are all the documents tagged with Clearspace.

Yes, we did test the system. Yes, we still expect that there are bugs out there. Please be patient with us as we work to make the system as best as it can be. We welcome your questions and feedback, but please make sure that your feedback is constructive. So, don't just tell me that it sucks, tell me how to make it better.

Thanks again, and welcome to a new era of PC World's community.

Does this new forum software have a way to show unread posts since your last visit or posting? I have not noticed anything as of yet.

As with everything, we humans have a problem with change. It'll take some getting used to. There and again, we do eventually accept and love a challenge. Good luck... pluto8963

I just click on the PC World Community link at the top and it goes to what's new and shows you everything in reverse chronological order.

Re: Welcome to the new PC World Community!
That is what I am doing too...but it does not show when a message is unread. The most recent thread can apparently have multiple posts added to it and still remain at the top of the list but just have it show a new most recent post and time. Point is that unless you know the last time you posted or read stuff (i.e. # of minutes ago), it can be tough to figure out where the new stuff is on that list. In other words, stuff that you have read stays on the list...it is just showing stuff in chrono order.

When typing a response, there should be a little pair of quote symbols at the top of the area to type your reply...if you click on it, it will quote the message that you are replying to.

Don't see a way to do emoticons...other than by old fashioned text stuff. :-(
