Hi Newbee. You really did not provide enough information. Do you mean that you go to hotmail.com to access your email? I believe Hotmail can be accessed via Outlook or Outlook Express. If you use either, please let us know.

Now, in relation to your problem, for example, I send you an email, you reply back to me, I reply back to you, you reply back to me, etc. and the entire string of messages are within each message you send out? If this is the case, you should be able to disable the "Show Original Message in Reply" feature. Since I do not have a hotmail account, you need to refer to your Settings options and disable a function that includes the original message in any reply you send.

However, if you use Outlook or Outlook Express, this is a relatively easy fix. Please clarify your situation so that we can help you.

Re: Why does my email keep showing sent & received messages?
I just set up a dummy Hotmail (Windows Mail) account and sent some tests emails. I could not find the option to disable the "Show Original Email in Reply" feature. If you use this email service directly, I am not sure what steps you can take, if any.

As I mentioned previously, if you use Outlook or Outlook Express to view your Hotmail account, please let us know so we can provide the appropriate steps.

The best way to break that link then is to not REPLY, but generate a new message. That way your current message only has the current discussion.

I only use replay on any e-mail system, if I want to maintain the thread of a discussion on a particular topic. Change the topic and I start a new message.

Hi Newbee. From what I have seen about hotmail (Windows Mail), I do not think there is a way to disable the reply feature. You may want to contact MSN, Microsoft, ot Hotmail directly to resolve this situation.

In addition to that, you can confirm with them how to configure Outlook Express to read your Hotmail email (POP Forward). I am not sure if Hotmail will allow this feature or not. Yahoo does not; however, Google does.

Other than this, I am not sure you have many other options.

This document should help in configuring Hotmail with Outlook Express.

Does not Hotmail have an address book? I use earthlink web mail and all my addresses or on the earthlink server not my Outlook Express address book.

I use hotmail, and yes, hotmail does have an address book(under the "contacts" tab), rgreen4.

In response to newbee, on the hotmail toolbar @ the top (where it says reply, delete, junk, etc.), beside "reply", there is another icon that says "reply all", which is where, for ex., If I send you a mess., you reply, then I reply back, it would show all of the e-mails from that chain of e-mails and replies under "original message", so I think that you may just be clicking the wrong icon ("reply all"), istead of just "reply". If it's not that, I am not sure what else it could be.

Re: Why does my email keep showing sent & received messages?
Hi Techy. Reply and Reply All accomplish the same function.

"Reply" sends an email message to the original sender.

"Reply All" sends an email message to the original sender and all individuals who may have been copied (CC) or blind copied (BCC) on the original email.
