Hello!
I enjoy photography very much and I take my Olympus D-560 with me wherever I go just so I can be ready for that great shot when it comes along. However, right now I am struggling with what Olympus tells me are corrupt files. The camera, which has 98 pictures on it, wants me to format the memory chip, a Fuji xD 128mb. If I do that, of course I loose the pics. What's worse is...this already happened to me a few months ago when I got the same message from the camera. I did format it at the time and lost 68 wonderful pictures. You would think I might have gotten to the bottom of the problem then but.....no! I called Olympus, they told me that the chip has an error on it and that I should have been formatting the chip everytime I downloaded picture files. Good to know! They also said that using the Kiosk type digital photo booths that you see everywhere are not good to use. I don't know if thats true, but I have heard that before. Anywhay, Olympus told me to download the free version of Zero Assumption Recovery 8.3 from
www.z-a-recovery.com, which I did. The program transfered the files, but I cant open them. So, what is going on? If the chip has an error on it say...at a point about half way and wants to be formatted, why does that effect my ability to open files that were stored on the first half of the chip? And...what can I do about it? Thanks for any help! Gee
