RMcLeod, I don't know if your question about screen capture is directed to me or Thinavila. I can cay that I have heard good reports about Gadwin, though I haven't tried it (same for MWSnap). The others I mentioned above are not better than SnagIt (which I use daily at work), so if you have money to burn, go for SnagIt. If you don't, the alternatives probably will satisfy you too.
BTW, my comment above was the continuation of the following comment, which somehow didn't get posted:
Thanks for a great, useful article. I can't really dispute any of your recommendations. However, as a utilities specialist, please allow me to offer a few alternative suggestions:
Belarc Advisor is a fine system information tool, but System Information for Windows (SIW) is much better - it provides more detailed information in an easy-to-follow hierarchy tree format. For details, see my review in the Aug. 19 issue of my utilities blog (
http://jonathanstoolbar.blogspot.com).
Glary Registry Repair is good, but Advanced Windows Care Personal is widely regarded as the best registry cleaner-upper among the many free offerings. It also fixes other Windows problems, and has a scheduler for unattended maintenance.
Clipmate is a fine clipboard manager, but others are equally, or almost equally good and cost nothing. My favorites among free rivals with advanced functionality include ArsClip (www.joejoesoft.com) and Clipboard Help+Spell (www.donationcoder.com).
I hope this is helpful.
