Only one step closer to the date when robots destroy the human civilisation and begin their communist rule over the Universe . . .(sighs) . . .LOL

Completely disagree. Piling on computing power will in no way make robots closer to self awareness. And without a computer being aware, it cannot be classified as male or female (other than anatomical correctness - but that makes it nothing more than a common sex toy). Awareness is not a "problem of computation", but rather, it requires a fundamental change in computing architecture wherein, self awareness or "desire to exist" comes first and the hardware built around it to simply support or sustain this "desire". When humans look for a mate, we are actually looking to find someone with "desires" compatible with our own - and the rest of our "married" lives are built around this loosely merged desire. I'm not being romantic here, but rather, it is this "ability to perceive our own desire" that differentiates humans from calculators. Sexually compatible humans are tempted by our partners' ability to fulfil our own desires that helps us bond. How in hell will you tempt a computer?

This article kind of reminds me of an episode from Futurama where Fry falls in love with a Lucy Liu Robot.

Robots aren't needed to destroy civilisation - humans are doing just fine. How are we going to be allowed to marry machines when many humans can't marry each other? This guy is nuts.

There's already a precendence set for banning marriage among our own species. What reason is there to believe marriage to a non-human will be allowed?

What about a male spouse/companion? How nice it would be to not have to wash a man's dirty underwear and socks. On the other hand, I think I might prefer a real man.
