Okay, this is not going to be as cut and dry as I first thought. This may be an instance where a screen shot is in order. This will enable us to see what you see. If you are not sure how to upload screen shots within this forum, please follow the instructions within this Document.

Re: micosoft .net Framework
Okay, just so that we are on the same page, when you are ready to take the screen shot, you:

  • hold down the Ctrl key and hit the Prt Scr key which is above the Insert key and to the right of the F12 key

  • open Microsoft Paint

  • click on Edit and then Paste

Is this what you did? ...and nothing happened?

Re: micosoft .net Framework
Okay, let's get back to the problem at hand. You mentioned that you were trying to update your .net framework. I have some further questions for you:

  • Have you since retried the download?

  • Are you using dial-up or broadband?

  • Do you know how large the update is?

  • From what site are you trying to update the .net framework? (Can you provide the actual url?)

Re: micosoft .net Framework
:D Hi Annie :

What is the SPECIFIC Name of your Operating System, usually Win XP SP1, Win XP SP2 or one of

the Vista's ? A couple of yrs ago when Microsoft "offered" the NET Framework as an "Update", I read

the description that said it was for "Developers", so since I am NOT a "Developer", I declined the

"Update" . Why did you put this on your computer ? Sometimes another program requires the use of

"NET Framework" to function properly; IF this applies to you, what is the Name of that program ?

On your computer, is the word in CAPITAL letters ( "NET" ) or in small letters ( "net" ) ?

Re: micosoft .net Framework
Hi Annie. Let's switch gears for a moment. If you believe you have deleted the application that initially need .net framework, there may be traces of this application still within your computer. This could be the reason Windows is initiating the message you are receiving.

Let's try something. Please download, install, and run Add/Remove Pro. This application will tell you which applications have not been uninstalled or installed properly. Using this application, try to determine which application needed .net framework and then make sure it is completely uninstalled.

Let us know what happens.
