Re: PC Specs
running xp is way faster plus i just made the switch my boot up time improved by 30 seconds lol. Theres many reasons of why i switched back to xp but im too lazy to type them lol but main reason is compatibility. The only program i miss on vista is sniping tools.

Re: PC Specs

I certainly recall the P2's and 3's. Guys and gals, I even recall Windows 3.1 office application.

But, I digress~~~~~~~

This what the Dell started with,

Dimension 2400, 2003 build. Celeron 2.4Ghz, DDR 256 SDRAM {and that was an upgrade if ya believe that}, a 17" CRT with integrated Intel 3D AGP Graphics, base 3.5 Floppy {which I still maintain}, 40Gb HDD 5,200 rpm, XP Home, Integrated Ethernet, CD-RW 48X drive {another upgrade to the package when ordered}, 2.1 integrated audio. I do want to notate that I received all OEM restore and install discs for XP, Works, Dell proprietary.

Okay, as finances grew, this is where I am today~~~~~~~~

Same original mobo 845, same processor. Same HDD. Added in an FX 5200 PCI 128Mb Card, extra 512 pc2700 SDRAM, decided to put in a DVD+RW burner to help the CD-RW out. Pitched the 200W Dell OEM PSU for an Okia 500W standard ATX PSU, gave the old monitor away and use a 19, Flat LCD from Dell. No DVI, though.

Then, since I was at or very near my limits with the mobo, I started O/C'ing everything I could. I did find out that a 40Gb HDD gets really crowded with the reference material to O/C, though, ;-) Especially since I get lazy and don't get rid of games as I should.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tam >aka Attack Pig<~~~~~~~ 2400 Celeron 2.4 OC'ed to 3.1, FX 5500 O/C'ed to 568 Mhz, PSU to 500W, 1024 RAM DDR O/C'ed to 428 Mhz I don't like no's from Dell. However I enjoy making them say yes
Re: PC Specs
Ha ha laxy is not good thing, but most of my programs work you can just run them on a compatibility xp and they work alright, but my games don't run as nicely.
i m using my newer PC at my college which is most of the time.
my older P3 is at my home ,which i use only at weekends . Its working fine and is 7 yrs old but i have added a few things to it since then :
upgraded to 256MB ram from initial 64 , 20GB HDD to 100GB and also added a LAN card which wasnt there when i bought it.:-)
i wonder how old techyguy's P2 would be?
my laptop is a gateway mt6828. 1.6 ghz core2 duo T5200, 1 gb ram, intel GMA 945 express 224 mb shared memory, 120 gb hard drive, dvd burner, and triple boot with xp pro/vista home premium/kubuntu
The desktop is dell dimension 2400. Pentium 4 2.2 ghz, a gig of ram, intel extreme graphics 64 mb memory, 2 hard drives for a total of 180 gb, dvd burner and cd drive, xp home.
I have an old compaq computer that I don't remember the model. but it was 233 mhz amd k-6 processor, 448 mb ram, some old 4 mb ati onboard video, cd burner, it came with windows 98 but I have xp home on it. It's so slow that it's almost unusable for anything other than solitare. But it still works.
Re: PC Specs
Wow, Vlad. You have an Acer? How do you like it, does it work well for you? My BFF wants to get an Acer. I looked at them a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised by the amazing clarity of the LCD screen! It looked better than my Hi-Def screen.
