AMD / INTEL WAR

I really don't know about you, but all I do know is all I'd like to do is just sit down behind my Computer and enjoy! Some people prefer AMD and some INTEL. Now if you got nothing better to do but sit there and hook all kinds of test equipment and run all kinds of Benchmarks, HEY ENJOY. To me it's beginning to look like a bunch of children saying "My Computer is Faster than Yours!" To me, "IT JUST DOESN"T MATTER" they are all good performers and I prefer AMD. Let People like PC World do the testing and hey, you decide. To me AMD is more cost effective and runs well. It just is bugging me to read AMD Users Bashing INTEL and INTEL Users Bashing AMD. I have sat down and Computed on similar like systems both INTEL and AMD and you know, to the naked eye I enjoyed both. Well enough said, Lets see what others think. Gosh, I remember sitting down in front of my first PC, an AMDEK System 88 (8088) Turbo 5 Mhz with a 12" Monochrome Monitor, didn't have Hard Drives then either, everything ran off 5.25" Floppy Disks in DOS from the DOS Prompt. We have come along way and still moving right along quickly. I actually Miss that AMDEK system! :(

Re: AMD / INTEL WAR
Hi jeeper, well said. As someone once said, the softwear doesn't know the difference. Actually, early on most people would turn there noses up at AMD, but the truth was that AMD was cheaper AND the better of the two processors. I don't think that really changed until Intel came out with the Core 2 Duo, then it was AMD playing catch up. personally, I don't really care, although I'm running an Intel, as long as it is fast enough and does the job. I guess it does get tiring, but with technology being what it is, there is always going to be an element of one upmanship involved. coastie65

Re: AMD / INTEL WAR
AMD is cheaper than intel but intel now has quad core and that pennlyon or something like that, so Intel is above AMD for now, but the competition between those two companies are big.

Hi lil, yeah I forgot how to spell that new chip myself, but if I'm not mistaken it is an AMD. coastie65

Re: AMD / INTEL WAR
I am pretty much neutral in the AMD/Intel war, though AMD has better bang-for-your-buck, vs. Intel having better performance. Now, there are some good things about having two or more major CPU manufacturers versus one large-and-in-charge vendor, that being if one screws up, users won't be stuck with it - they can turn to the other manufacturer. I could go on for pages and pages comparing Intel and AMD, but I don't feel like doing that just yet.

P.S. my first PC was an Packard Bell, that I got back when I was 13. It had a 1.3GB hard disk, an Intel Pentium I CPU, I think it had some 16 or 32MB ATI GPU, as well. It came with a big-honkin' 14.5" CRT mointor, with speakers integrated into the monitor. It ran Win. 95, and also had a CD-rom and floppy-drive, too.

Re: AMD / INTEL WAR
its penryn , which is the codename for intel's new range of 45nm technology processors.
what i think is that for the same amount amount of money , u can get more powerful processor in AMD than in INTEL.but intel is more reliable if u want to use a single processor for quite a long time, customer support for intel is unmatchable.
and dont forget since C2D's have come AMD is nowhere.
