Outlook Express Crashing

I am having a problem with my outlook express program. About 3 weeks ago I attempted to send a file that was way to big. I am unable to delete the file from the sent mail page. The program will then lock-up. I have tried numerous times to delete the outgoing file but it still remains. I don't use this program for business so therefore there is no important info there and I was trying to uninstall outlook express and then re-install. I don't know how. Is there any way to do this?

Re: Outlook Express Crashing

Hi. This should work:

  1. In Outlook Express, select Tools>Options. Click the Maintenance tab, then the Store Folder button.
  2. The resulting dialog box displays the path to where your messages are stored. Open Windows Explorer to this folder. (You can do this by highlighting the contents of the text field and pasting it--between quotation marks--in Windows' Run box.)
  3. Once the folder is open, close the Store Location and Options dialog boxes, then close Outlook Express.
  4. Back in Windows Explorer, rename the file Outbox.dbx. It doesn't matter what you rename it. Renaming it is safer than deleting it.
  5. Re-enter Outlook Express. You should have an empty out box.

:D Hi acsgtpd :

Before following Lincoln's Recommendations, I suggest you try using the FREE "Unlocker" program

available from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker , to "delete" that file . Read the info on that page very

carefully,as to IF you want the "Unlocker Assistant" activated during Installation AND IF you want to

have the Unlocker "Explorer Extension" run in "Silent Mode" !?

Re: Outlook Express Crashing

If the message you can't delete in the inbox, try SpiritWind's solution.

If that doesn't work, drag everything else in the inbox to another, temporary folder, then follow the directions from my first answer, only this time, rename inbox.dbx rather than outbox.

When you restart OE, you'll have an empty inbox. Drag all of the files in the temporary folder back to the inbox.
