Bob here. Just to let you know about a fault with the Vaio laptops.:

::!:
I purchased a Sony Vaio AR230G laptop on the 3rd of January This year,and used it for only 2 months. Thinking it would be a great laptop. I bought It so I could transfer pictures from my camera to the laptop and polish up the pictures in Photoshop.. Well, after I used the internal SD card reader it failed after 3 uses. The SD card went into the SD slot with some friction. When I pushed the card in to get it to release it would not release and come out of the slot after 3 attempts. I finally got the SD card to come out, with the use of use my fingernail . I sent the laptop to the sony for repair. three days later, I received a email from sony with a quote for $761.59 to replace the motherboard. I was told by sony's repair shop that the card reader separated from the motherboard and claimed that it was physical damage, and they would not honor their warranty. I explained that I used the SD card in the way it was designed for, and I should not be denied warranty repair due to poor engineering, and lax quality control. I have called all the customer care people. and decided its more like* customers we don't care!.* Another noted problem with the sony vaio product is the coating is flaking off the front panel right hand side where the Memory Stick/ SD card slotis located.It is Almost like they sprayed the panel with cheep paint. I thought that maybe it's just this sony lemon that I purchased. But after going to another major electronic store and looking at their display computers, I noted that the coating was flaking off theirs too. I found out that now vaio's are now made in china. I hope you who read this will think twice about your purchase.
