Re: Which Sounds Better, Dolby Digital (DD) or Digital Theater Systems (DTS)
Hi Tech4Me. Since the General Talk Community is not really for technical questions, I have moved this Discussion to the Answer Line Community.
Now, I have not heard this CD; however, if you are talking strictly about sound, I would say that DTS would sound better than DD simply because of the technology. Additionally, you need to make sure that you have quality speakers to handle the difference. I would presume that the audio quality would sound tremendously different between a Dolby Digital recording coming from two speakers and a Digital Theater Systems recording coming from 6 or 8 speakers.

Re: Which Sounds Better, Dolby Digital (DD) or Digital Theater Systems (DTS)
Both of these are basically lossy compression algorythms for fitting more sound into less space. DTS doesn't compress as much, and therefore doesn't lose as much. Potentially, it sounds better.
I say potentially because it's always possible that one transfer is better done than another. I've heard Dolby and DTS tracks off the same DVD where I couldn't tell them apart. But those have been the exception. In most cases, DTS sounds better--occasionally much better.

Hi Lincoln. We have 2 group of listeners. 1 said DD is warmer and more impact....? And another (with me) think DTS is cleaner and detailed .
Now I have something to tell them and I agree It very much depends on how it was recorded.
Thanks for your in depth info.
