You run scans just as you would any other time. You get to Safe Mode by tapping F8 between the logo screen and the Windows screen before the windows loading screen pops up. Stick to safe mode or safe mode with networking if you chose the later remember to turn your firewall on. If you plan to start up without networking then make sure your scanners are fully up to date before you run safe mode to scan.

Personally I don't run scans in safe mode unless I am highly concerned about the presnce of significant malware.

Hi Istanbul. I initially moved your question to another Discussion. Aurora is absolutely correct. Safe Mode security scans should really only be used if you have an active infection in your computer.

In addition to what she suggested, please click on this hyperlink to review the WikiDocument on Safe Mode startup.

Hi Istanbul. In most security applications, the updates are done automatically. However, without knowing the exact application(s) you use, there is really no way for us to explain exactly how to update your security.

Since you only mentioned Norton, I can presume that Norton automatically updates itself security database everyday or at some interval. That being said, there are very few people within this forum that will make any suggestions to keep Norton or use it as the sole means of protection.
