All I can say is that in the 6 months that I have had the dis-pleasure of running Vista I rate it right along side Windows ME, which I had thought until now was the worst release of Windows ever. I made two mistakes this time when purchasing a new PC. First I thought that Dell still put out quality machines....WRONG. Secondly It came with Vista Premium installed..either give me back XP or even better give me a machine with Ubuntu and other Open source software. That is where the quality is now it seems.

It is not Vista it is not XP it antitrust and Microsoft (CYA)!!!!!!!

The Consumer who pays is considered guiltyand also pays twice once for the product and once for the lack of features - Hackers get the best of both worlds no cost and all the features!

Microsoft is not the problem - what would you do if the government was about to steal a large part of company because you gave extra and high quality features. Googles cries antitrust because Vista gave user a better Desktop search!

We have had are freedom taken, Google is one of the biggest spys and don't think for a second they'll keep your privacy - if they have been attacked like Microsoft.

...But it's so pretty! :shock:

Don't dwell on all the bad negative things... It's nice to look at.
Oh, and did I mention that it's pretty? :P

Microsoft and the rest of 'The Establishment' should be prosecuted for misleading consumers, for millions of pounds sterling for each and every incident!

This is because Microsoft is fully aware of problems created by their anti-piracy program - Whether or not responsible for illegally changing product codes Microsoft is responsible 100% certain. Microsoft eventually claimed that disc that I obtained from Microsoft in Germany were not legal for the UK market.

If Sony could be prosecuted then Microsoft and the rest of, 'The Establishment' should be prosecuted - behaving worst than illegal pirates.

If The Establishment wants to prevent illegal copying then they should be using AACS (Advanced Access Content System ). This probably means that Microsoft is lying when it claims that the purpose is to prevent illegal pirating - no correlationship between HDCP and illegal piracy

Definitely, with the last paragraph Microsoft should be prosecuted for millions of pounds sterling for misleading people by the various government departments around the world, but perhaps they are corrupt.

Well, I don't know what to tell ya guys, I like Vista, and I believe it's head & shoulders above XP in the following ways:

• Improved interface. XP looks like it was made for kids now.
• User accounts are actually usable now, instead of making everyone an administrator (like in XP), you can actually manage user rights in Vista.
• Much MUCH more stable than Vista. Graphics errors no longer cause the system to crash.
• Performance and reliability monitoring.
• Much improved networking and wireless capabilities.
• Better memory management by far.

Those are the major points. There's so much that's been improved in Vista that it's hard to quantify them all.

Oh, and let's not forget DirectX 10, which will never be available in XP, and by the end of the year will be required to play a lot of games that you won't want to miss.

You guys all whine too much. You'll ALL be using Vista sooner or later, just like when you were whining about XP at the end of 2001, then lookie here, 5 years later you're all using XP. We hear the same whining and crying every time MS makes a major OS revision.

Vista as bad as Windows ME? LMAO if you are serious, then you've never used Vista. I've been running it since release day 1, and have had no serious issues.

If the DRM becomes a big enough thorn in Microsoft's side (and it will and is), they will disable, fix, or remove it. No biggie.

At the end of the day, you can hold onto XP as long as you want, it won't delay or affect the gradual replacement of XP with Vista. Hey if you REALLY want a fast OS for your Core2 system, install Windows 98 ROFL!!!

Vista works better for me than XP did, more stable, and much easier on the eye! Pictures and video look much crisper on Vista. Crashes are rare and when they do its usually due to drivers that were poorly made in the first place (are you listening ATI?). I will say that it seems most companies have caught up and are releasing reliable drivers. Vista is not perfect UAC can be a pain and some the menus are oddly placed but overall Vista is nicely done.

As for the high def issue, to me its like buying a Blue Ray DVD Player then using a low res TV! I have read a bit about this HD standard, though I think its a little harsh, you'll supposedly get a better picture via your PC than on quite a fewhi def TV's. I'm wondering if the people who are taking issue with this are the same people who pirate movies off the the net!
