AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update

Has anyone run into this situation? Each time AVG Anti-Virus 7.5 updates its virus database, it prompts me to restart my computer. This has been going on for at least the last two weeks. I know that, yes, sometimes this is a requirement but every update for the last couple weeks is stretching it. Any opinions?

Re: AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update
I too have noticed this in the past few weeks. It is annoying when there is a critical update and a recomended update and I have to restart twice, just to update AVG. But, I can live with it. After all, There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

:D Hi all :

Always best to check on the Support Forums of the Product ; I went to

http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/list.php?1 and saw 1 Post about this "situation" and the implication

there was at least 1 more .

Maybe 1 or more of their "Stickys" address it as well !?

I have it on occasion, but it's generally ONLY when I've installed an actual ((((((program update)))))) The virus definitions themselves don't always require a reboot.

Re: AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update
mine updates for me about every time I start my computer, fortunately he doesn't have me restart my computer every time either. You could always try to manually update your system, its possible that something is messing you up so you can't actually update it. Keep an eye on what file package is being updated. Make sure its not the same one again and again.

Re: AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update
Hi mph, I'm with aurora on this in that AVG up dates almost daily and I have yet to be required to do a restart. There is a place in XP that you can check to not require restarts after updates, but I forgot where the bloomin thing was. I just saw it the other day but didn't pay any attention to it, except to the fact that it was checked. It may have been in AVG itself for all I can remember. coastie65

Re: AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update

Hey MPH! I too have had to restart my PC after Updates from AVG. Three times last week. But today, so far, no restart. So no your not the only one. My guess is that there must have been some program updates, at least a couple of them. That might be over, since they did not ask to restart today.

Re: AVG 7.5 Requires Restart After Each Update
Same thing happened to me, I had to click on the link under the blog title (every once in awhile you have to treat yourself...) when I went to that link I clicked on "View mphenterprises Profile" link in the upper right hand corner, it brought me to it that way, and even then I couldn't post a comment w/o the same error notice. So yes, I'm going nuts too :-)
