Will you upgrade to Vista?

Vista is coming... sometime. Will you be upgrading when it does? Vote in our poll, and then tell us why or why not!

Probably Not
I probably won't, I see no real reasons, as most of the new features introduced into the new Windows OS are available as free third-party add-ons. Even if I do decide to upgrade, it won't be until a year or so after Vista is released (Service Pack 2, anyone?).

Upgrade to Vista
Since I am a long term user of windows and an eternal optimist, I will give it a look and if there is any content that fits my needs, I will give it a try. :?

Certainly not right away! I want them to work the bugs out, first... and there will be bugs, I'm sure. But, once the world had deemed it safe, I probably will!

Absolutely but not right away. I have the Beta 2 and it works fine with some minor issue. Not to mention that it has around 10 patches from Microsoft to date. I think, Microsoft is serious about security at this point.

What I can say about Vista is that it looks Mac OS X. :)

I have XP Pro optimized and working very well presently. That said, my plan is to wait until the first major "rev" of Vista is released in what (guessing) may be a year or more. At that point I will definitely move from XP to Vista. In the meantime, as apple developers prepare more native apps to run on the new Intel MacBook/MacBook Pro and (hopefully) rosetta becomes a thing of the past, then I'm a buyer for a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. If virtualization becomes a stable and viable alternative, and the prospect of running both OSX.x and Vista together on the same MacBook Pro becomes real, then I will most probably go that way.

I will later
I tried the Vista public beta twice and it totally crashed my system both times.
Was able to restore my computer from backup (Kudos to Acronis True Image 9 and PCWorld for recommending it). I won't be trying that beta again!
XP Pro is nice and stable so I'll do what I did when XP came out... wait a year or so for the worst of the bugs to get worked out before I upgrade.

I suppose like the majority, I will eventually make the move to Vista when some or most of the bugs are worked out. XP is working just fine for me now, but when it becomes apparent that Vista is the way to go, then I will go that way as well.

as I stated in another thread in this forum. That windows with there wga stuff activation etc is really pissing me off so I doubt I will upgrade to Vista at all, if I'm going to buy new stuff I'm just going to go to a mac. The only real reason I can see going there is because of security updates/enhancements.

Right now, WGA isn't a required download.....not YET. fyi.

As for vista, i don't see the need for windows to make another os, especially since XP is still messed up. I say fix XP, get rid of the security holes, then make a new os. I guess they're just desperate for money. I wonder how much they'll charge for vista. Probably like $400 or something rediculous. Included with the infamous WGA to mess it all up. jeez, my box still runs w2000. That was the most stable version of windows, other than nt, ever made. Unfortunately, that also made it a popular target. The only way i'll get Vista, is if i buy a new laptop, and it's included.
