Is it just me or do the public comments made by Bender seem childish and lacking professional discretion?

I have to say both these latest comments about Intel and previous comments in the last six months are not as professional as one expects from a venture with such lofty goals. I wonder if it is because he is insecure about the mission?

Who knows, maybe the Classmate could've been the successor to the XO, or at least helped open the way. The idea behind the XO is a good one, but I think having something that's a bit more standard fare among computers (at least having a few more features) sounds like it could benefit the OLPC program. I do think going with AMD is still a better option as for pricing goes, plus with their acquisition of ATI and the fact that they're working on a unified CPU/GPU (something Intel had worked on, but never completed) could make the next generation OLPC laptop more capable.

Mind you, I'm not a tech professional or anything like that, so I don't really know what all Intel could bring to the table - or take away now that they've left. Just offering my thoughts.

With or without Intel, I hope the OLPC program is able to continue and hopefully offer computers that can do more for those who want them, leading the way to better hardware and software for anyone who can make use of them.

Bah, I think Intel was duplicitous and my next machine will be an AMD. Sabotaging a humanitarian effort is vile. They didn't have to kill their 'Classmate', they just needed to keep their markets separate... and commit to lowering the price point of the OLPC to what was targeted. Intel = profiteers, now for sure.
And the OLPC is already feature packed, particularly at the low price... an amazingly versatile device, that is already being augmented by the hacker community. I'm not a linux fanboy, but it's an open system... while the 'Classmate' is just another traditional notebook made as cheap as they could, which is twice the price of the OLPC, which translates into fewer computers for truly poor students.

I'm with RDunn. It sure seems wrong to me that Intel would indeed sabotage such a noble cause. I mean why? A Bah from me as well....
