Anyone having trouble cancelling Symantec auto-renewal?

In 2006, I purchased a one year subscription to Norton Antivirus. I was writing a story on automatic renewal plans and what was involvedin getting out of them. I thought I'd cancelled my Symantec automatic renewal, but I hadn't.

In fact, as I soon found out, I COULDN"T.

Symantec charged me $39.99 a year later (I was not sent the promised email warning before my credit card was charged, by the way) and after repeatedly asking for my contact information, which I repeatedly sent them, the company eventually simply stopped answering my emails and closed the ticket. I never got my refund.

Symantec outsources this kind of support to a company called Iseva, so the email was going to a iseva.net address.

Anyone else had a problem like this? I'm trying to figure out whether or not this is a widespread phenomenon. As things stand now, I expect I'll be renewed again next year by Symantec, and I can't seem to stop this via their email support.

If this has been an issue for you too, you can reply in the forum, or contact me directly at the email address below:

Re: Anyone having trouble cancelling Symantec auto-renewal?

YES! I don't remember many details now but Norton anti-virus was pre-loaded on my new (5 years ago) Dell Dimension, so I went with it. I definitely do remember trying to cancel when my year was up and had problems. About all I can say now is that Symantec and AOL are 2 companies that I refuse to have anything to do with only because of the big, aggarvating, frustrating problem of cancelling their services. I don't care how good the product is, they won't see me or my money again.

Good luck in your research.

Hi, I had Norton Anti Virus 2006 and then Security Suite 2007. I got notifications on both occasions in which I opted out. Uninstalling that mess is a whole nother thing. coastie65
