I really dislike moves like this. As they said they want increased traffic to their site, yet they target the wrong audience. I am a member of cnet and techrepublic, and we're not exactly the CBS kindof crowd.

Yeah you may trick us into visiting with some tricky links or inticing banners, but once we're there we won't find anything of interest.

Well, every go again!!! this mean CNET will not be the same..Free downloads I know will be curtailed by CBS.. HOw did CBS bought a company like CNET, it's beyond me... CNET is tech. help people with PC's etc.. sale products, techs etc... CBS should take care of better programming on TV etc. news. than going tech.. I don't think this will be so great. To bad. I like CNET and used the site for over 10 years. Like everthing going on in this country..MONEY! is the world. If I am bother with a bunch of nonsense with CBS banners etc.. I will go to other sites for help, free downloads etc... this is not good.

I quit using Cnet some time ago, as I kept getting bad downloads, and my pc antivirus, antiworm, etc. refused to allow them to open. I had to get the same downloads from other sites. Also, Cnet would send me notice that I'd downloaded, even though I'd aborted before doing so. I have no use for them.
