What makes Firefox so popular? Its not the features, speed, or anything like that. Other browsers do those things very well too. cough Opera cough So what makes Firefox more popular? I have to say its not some silly reason that very few people care about (i.e. open source). The reason is that Firefox has a very nice community that makes it popular. Lets just hope that its the friendly cake-getting I have an awesome experience I want to share with you too community and not the trollish MS bashing retards that you see all too often around Firefox releases like this one.

Popular in my book because of one word: extensions.

I love it for one simple reason: it works! I can get to where I want to go easily, without the freezes and cryptic errors given by other browsers. I have no particular loyalty to any of the browsers; I just want one that works quickly and error-free and Firefox does that best.

1st off Opera and IE blow. they flat out suck. every single feature they have you can get in firefox through add-ons. its customizability that makes firefox the superior browser. you can customize it to your taste and your needs like no other browser out there (minus the firefox clones like flock). opera and ie have 0 customizability what you see is what you get and thats boring (and the opera widgets are gay). also every time ive used opera it sucks when there are a lot of images on a page, its speed is only good through flat text based pages. opera will always be 3rd banana. because 1) it isnt customizable and 2) it doesnt offer enough to make people switch from ie to opera. face it firefox could be the least secure browser on the planet and it would still outdo opera and thats what opera and its fans need to accept. opera will never beat firefox or ie, EVER.

You yourself say this. That means the fired fox browser isnt much without addons. And what matters is the core browser , not the addons.

opera and ie have 0 customizability
Customizabiltiy is one feature that opera mostly banks upon , it just shows that you dont have much info about opera.

also every time ive used opera it sucks when there are a lot of images on a page, its speed is only good through flat text based pages. opera will always be 3rd banana.

Go and search for some standard browser tests. If you find them , test on your own and see which loads what faster.

Re: Firefox 3 Hits 17.3 Million Downloads

listen mr i know everything but dont try anything until others try out 1st. customizable means to make it whatever you want not just be able to just certain settings. clearly opera isnt as customizeable or it could add a simple thing like roboform but no it cant even handle roboform. it speaks about privacy and safety yet your cant install roboform? which is safer then storing passwords on your browser.

opera people preach yet they will have to accept they will always be 3rd banana and nothing they can say or do will ever change it, firefox converts other users to firefox opera takes whats left. btw why would a browser need to start out with a lot of features when it can have any feature any other browser has and more? why would i wanna be forced with things that i may not want yet cant add to it vs a basic browser which i can make work like opera and ie combined and more if i chose? that wasnt a smart statement. you basically are saying its best to be forced with certain things vs choosing your own. im sure you follow what every article in mags have to say. im almost willing to bet you havent tried one product without someone else recommending it 1st. i used opera before you and before mentioned in pcworld, i used firefox also before being mentioned in pcworld. im a trend setter, you and pcworld are trend followers. know the difference.

hey hey , plz . Tell me one thing, where did i say anything about forcing anything on anyone. None of my comments in above post mentioed any bad thing about fired fox . If you are making anything with yourself i cant do much in that.

im sure you follow what every article in mags have to say. im almost willing to bet you havent tried one product without someone else recommending it 1st.

FYI , as far as articles in magazines are concerned , there is a approx. 25:1 ratio for firefox articles to opera articles. If i would be using what mags recommend , then i would have been using firefox. This is also clear by the browser popularity . FF has about 15% users and Opera has about 0.7% , so i dont think i m following any trend. If 0.7% is trend to you , then you are a bit poor with maths. Those people who know me here know that i m amongst the first ones to try the betas and post my views on that. If you thnk i havent tried even a single product , then you are wrong in this also.

i used opera before you and before mentioned in pcworld, i used firefox also before being mentioned in pcworld. im a trend setter, you and pcworld are trend followers. know the difference.

yes , you may have used opera before i had but again where did pcworld come between this. You are always getting to only point - i used before pcworld mentioned , i am a trend setter , i dont copy , all others copy. Stop behaving like a kid plz.

I agree on the fact that FF is much better than IE , no problems with that. But i really dont like that some people say wrong things about other browsers and that too without having complete and correct information.

Re: Firefox 3 Hits 17.3 Million Downloads
you have no right to talk about anything when i use products before you and never stop using them. thats like me telling bill gates how to run microsoft (although he's stepping down). sure you know more about a product u have used for a lesser period of time. if anyone is the kid its the one who uses a product for a shorter period of time yet thinks he knows more then the one who has used it for the longer period of time. you know less about these products not more and then want to save face by calling me a kid? thats funny as hell and laughable on so many levels.

Re: Firefox 3 Hits 17.3 Million Downloads
So you are the one who believes in quantity , rifght ? You are using a thing for longer means you know more , right ?
Have a look at you previous posts and all the comments in your browser blog. What one statement you will find common ? Just have a look yourself. Repeating only one thing - isnt this what the kids do ?

Since you are more concerned about arguing over other things rather than browsers , i would prefer to stay away from this topic .
My only point in the beginning was that bashing something is the easiest task to do. Providing wrong information about opera is what i didnt like. But i dont think that would make any difference to you. You use what you like , i use what i like .

have a nice day .
