If you fill out the ChoicePoint questionnaire and provide copies of all the identification documents they require, i.e., driver's license copy, social security number or copy of card,
copies of major bank statement, credit card billing statement, utility bill copy, etc., etc., you are essentially giving a complete stranger every bit of information about you that you are trying to protect. And, clearly, if they don't have you in their records, they now have enough information on you to start a complete file and they got it for free because you provided it to them. Pretty smart business tactics for a company that should be able to afford to purchase the information. I'll take my chances not knowing what these companies have on me rather than playing into their paranoia-inducing strategies.
