I biggyback me internet connection (lanset) off of my roommats ISP (ATT). Since he switched over to ATT, I am unable to send email through outlook express. The previous ISP he had there was no problem with sending email. I have contacted my ISP & they gave me some help with the settings & the usual things. But it did not work. So can any one help. I do not want to use lanstes web mail, I want it to go through outlook expres.

what is lanstes webmail? Do you have a microsoft office version of outlook- 97, 2003, 2007?

Last time i used outlook 2003 with my at&t dsl hookup, it outlook disabled the internet and messed up the dsl modem. At&t had to basically hack the modem to bring me back online.

Re: 2 isp on 1 line can not send email.

if you have an @att.net e-mail address goto my.att.net and log in to read e-mail

if that doesn't work goto att.net and try your login that way. (even though it says yahoo, it will accept all at&t affiliated e-mails- sbcglobal, bellsouth, etc.)

lanset hasn't been rated high for it's security.

Re: 2 isp on 1 line can not send email.
I don't use outlook express, but have three e-mail boxes. msn, verizon, and earthlink. The first two are with my internet service, and I kept the earthlink mail box after I switched from dial up to fiber. I don't use verizon's and what I did was book mark the earthlink box as I was originally able to click on IE and get it. When I click on web mail in favorites, I get the sign in page for earthlink's mail box. It works just fine, but may seem a bit cumbersome for some folks. coastie65

Type in the address of your mail box. When the sign in page comes up right click and add it to favorites. You then should be able to access it from the favorites list. I'm not real sure about trying to piggyback through outlook express. coastie

Re: 2 isp on 1 line can not send email.
Okay Cllogan, I think you should just Log into your eMail using IE7, it's more secure that way and you might get less Spam. If you do want to use Outlook Express it does seem like you have the right settings, but AT&T Server is not letting you through. You might try under Servers, "My Server requires Authentication," but I think you will have to talk to AT&T to see what is needed.

Hi cilogan, I sent you link that may be helpful. You didn'tsay, but I am assuming the OS is Vista as this particular error doesn't seem to occur with XP. coastie

Re: 2 isp on 1 line can not send email.
cllogan - I'm not sure why you are having this problem. Are you having trouble accessing any general web page through your roommate's connection?

How are you connected, via a router or internet sharing?

For reference, I have an earthlink account that I access via Outlook Express on one machine (to archive my e-mail) as well as via any browser (as webmail), but my ISP is now Windstream DSL. I had now problems when it was Hughesnet satellite either.

You are correct, you cannot deal with AT&T unless you are the account holder. This is why it is important to understand how you are connected. I am connecting via a router so I can access my account from any of my machines.

Re: 2 isp on 1 line can not send email.
Cllogan, there is only one Internet Service Provider, that's AT&T and you are trying to access Lanset eMail Server through them using Port 25. Did you try to put a check in the Authentication box? Your Roommate has to log into their Support and find out what settings have to be changed in Outlook Express. You said you can log in using Web Mail, and I think this is better than Outlook Express. This may be the only way you will be able to use your eMail.
