Re: Turn on Vista's Hidden 'Checkboxes' Feature
I mainly select a group of files or pictures in a row so I hold down Shift, Highlite the first file then Click on last file - this selects the entire group, if I ever want to deselect a few of the files in between I then hold down Ctrl and click them so they aren't highlited any more.

Re: Turn on Vista's Hidden 'Checkboxes' Feature
That is neat. If you click on the checkbox for one item and then go down to select a range, holding the shift key when clicking the check box next to the last item you want, it still selects all the in-between items just as before. It's great that we did not loose that functionality.

The check box basically works like holding the CTRL key down, but it's easier.

I have been using Vista for 20 months, and am still learning new little nuances about it. Those that said it's just a fancy face on XP, really, really, didn't know what they were talking about. I am so used to some of the nice features with Vista, that when I go to XP and try to find them, it's nope, wrong OS.

Re: Turn on Vista's Hidden 'Checkboxes' Feature
Indeed a very useful feature in vista. Much better and comfortable than holding the ctrl key.
There are other many small , not so popular features in vista . I can recall another one as being the quick launch hotkeys. Pressing Win+1 will launch the first item in the quick launch and so on. This is another small vista feature that i use very frequently and always miss while on xp. :p

Re: Turn on Vista's Hidden 'Checkboxes' Feature
This is neat! It not only saves time, but it also takes out a lot of the worry of clicking on something that you shouldn't. (if the unwanted item happened to be between items that you did want to select)
