He's wrong, the Wii's numbers increased a lot, but only commensurate with its total number of units sold. Also the 360 numbers make sense based on the number of games sold per unit.

Based on the experiences of a 13 and 10 yr old boys. The Wii is a get excited open at Christmas, play a lot then stop playing type of system. Here in suburban so-cal most kids want a 360.

Read the source info in the table carefully Stan. "Usage minutes % is the percent of all measured console minutes." That's altogether, not individually.

most of my friend prefer the 360 over the ps3 due to tons of library games. Its just all there. Gears of war 2 is the best seller and dead space. and especially the halo games. Not a day goes by without anyone NOT mentioning Halo 3.

If I understand it correctly, it's the total number of hours spent gaming. So of course the number of Wii hours increased dramatically, the number of Wii units increased dramatically. But, I would like to see is the number of hours spent per unit. As of this year the Wii has more units in homes than the Xbox360, but still has less gameplay.

My point is that Wii's are being bought, but not being played. Teenagers perceive them as little kid consoles, and little kids (unfortunately) are playing Halo and COD.

Nintendo is and will be successful with the Wii because they make money on the hardware and most titles sold are Nintendo (we can assume at a high profit margin). In the long term however, put your money on the Xbox720.

I would think this to be true.

Remember that the playstation 2 can play DVD's so will still be used for that as maybe a second DVD player.

Also as was mentioned above there is now a massive amount of heavily reduced second hand games out there for the PS2, making it even more popular.

I would say though that after enough time, the Nintendo Wii will take the top spot.

Playability and ease of use are two very popular traits that gamers are looking for in consoles.
