WHAT A HEADACHE REGISTERING TO COMMENT!

If Sony lowered the price to $1 I would not buy after they infected millions of PCs with thier VIRUS "SECUROM".

This can not be forgotten! They treat their paying customers like criminals!

Not 1 cent!

sbeach9, I'm not sure what this has to do with a ps3 price drop. Would you care to elaborate?

I personally think that there has been so much hate for sony lately that it doesn't matter what they do, people will continue to complain. Meanwhile MS will just continue to take exclusives and do nothing to fix its hardware.

I agree. Sony has very little respect for their customers and the world would be a better place without them. First them SECUROM crap, then the Star Wars Galaxies scandal. Sony is that relative that always shows up, pisses everyone off, then never believes they ever do anything wrong.

Please grow up! Everyone makes mistakes or missteps just like Microsoft, Apple, and every other big corporation. A price drop is a welcome change to this console.

I think this would be a good thing, seeing as how I already have an 80 GB PS3 as well as a PS2. As for the previously mentioned problems, one i would say there was some less than than decent antivirus / Antispyware apps installed. I personally don't have my PS3 or PS2 connected to my computer in any way. They share the router and that's it. The price drop will be good as will further releases of games such as Uncharted 2 and The Witcher ( Fall 2009) to name two. The 80 Gb is a good console and I am enjoying it to the max. coastie65

Re: PS3 Price Cut in April, Sony to Recover Sales Says Analyst
Missteps? Was WWII a "misstep?" Sony has made some serious enemies of what were it's best customers.

Sony is always the last-to-market and asks top-dollar for the least features.

Their corporate goal seems to be gouge the consumer as many times for as many devices and as many ways as they can.

I'm a former Sony snob... EVERYTHING in my home was Sony until I got tired of waiting 2-3 years for underwhelming products with hobbled features, proprietary EVERYTHING and getting gouged 2-3 times going rate on adapters, memory, media, etc.

Even today they only half-heartedly support JPG, MPG and Mp3 formats on their dvd players and NOT-AT-ALL on their game consoles (which use them internally).

They don't think for even a minute the consumer will use these formats for legal purposes... when they make the devices for the users to make their own pictures, recordings & movies.

Sadly most of you anti Sony people are very mistaken and obviously very bias. First off, SOE (online entertainment) was responsible for the SWG issues, not SCE (computer entertainment). Believe it or not they are different divisions in the same company, similar to Windows Vista and Xbox 360. Both are by the same parent company but different divisions of it.

As far as charging top dollar for the least ammount of features, that would be Nintendo. Side by side comparisons of all 3 next generation consules clearly shows:
1) nintendo offered the least, and gave no room for upgrade
2) microsoft offered the second least amount of features, but gave consumers the option to "add-on" assuming you don't mind spending rediculous amounts of money for HDD and wireless internet
3) Sonys PS3 had/still has the most features out of the box and for a Xbox 360 to compare it would have to spend~200 bucks to upgrade the middle model to sonys bottom model.
Not to mention that about 90% of the launch 360 models RRoD and had to be refunded/returned/repaired, you pay for online service, for all the exclusive the 360 got, only Halo had a rating of more then 3/5 stars while PS3 exclusives average 4+/5 stars.

Too little, too late. By the time a price drop finally occurs for the PS3 (which I think April is too soon of a forecast, based on history), it won't make much difference. In this generation of consoles, they might be able to keep up with Microsoft (somewhat), but they'll never be able to take over Nintendo now. Which is sad, because the PS3 is so much better graphically.

Hi, You failed to mention the ease of a Hdd upgrade in a PS3 and how relatively inexpensive it is. All you need is a Laptop Hdd and you are good to go. coastie65

Re: PS3 Price Cut in April, Sony to Recover Sales Says Analyst
I don't know how people hate on the PS3 anymore at all. Blu Ray winning the format war should be reason enough to want this system. I have read it plays blu rays better than dedicated blu ray players which cost significantly more.

I have recently bought one (only $250 if you can get approved for the Playstation credit card) and I LOVE it! Lets see:

Great games
Great Graphics
Great Blu Ray player
Rechargeable wireless controllers
Free online gaming

What is bad about this system again? Quit hating, just deal with your wrong decision in buying a 360 and move on.

Thanks for editing my comment, even though the "attack" wasn't personal, it was directed towards an ignorant comment.

Anyway, allow me to reiterate buzzard2 - google "xbox 360 jasper" and you will find that Microsoft has improved their hardware.

Re: PS3 Price Cut in April, Sony to Recover Sales Says Analyst

I wont lie, I am a PS3 fan and I can agree 100% that the PS3 is easier and cheaper to upgrade the HDD on. Myself I bought a 500 gb HDD for maybe 70 bucks and use that now. Its what, 150 dollars for 120 gb? Not to mention SCE actually supports the exchange of HDD and has help files on their forums to tell you which HDD will work, and exactly how to change them out.

Back to the topic of price cuts though, I think the PS3 needs an "arcade" model. However, what exactly do you remove? Down to 1 usb slot, okay. Remove wireless ethernet, sure. Drop the HDD to 10 gb? Maybe. Ultimately the blu ray drive and cell processor are the limiting factors on the price. It might not hurt to look at the budget companies making 199 blu ray drives and see how sony could optimize their production costs. As far as the cell goes, its the same road bloack the PS2 had with the emotion engine.

Re: PS3 Price Cut in April, Sony to Recover Sales Says Analyst
How about we all stick to the article.
No, I wont buy a ps3 if they drop if 100.00 or even 200.00. My reason for that is currently they dont have many games that interest me and there online experience suck from what I see at my friends house. I have been pretty fond of my 360 and love the media extender part of it. I do love my sony ps2 though. Cheap games and lots of them. I dont believe sony is going to be able to recoup the ps3 damage. Too late, too expensive, no content, ... What about all the people that have payed 399 over the past few months. Is sony going to give them some online money? Hopefully sony can enter the next generation of gaming in 2-4 yrs. Idea---Maybe sony should have made it with a dvd drive and sold an expensive addon for the bluray. Remember, most people buy a gaming console for gaming, not watching bluray. As for coming back at me with the comment, well you can store more content on bluray, yes you can, however microsoft hasnt had problems storing there games on dvd.

Re: PS3 Price Cut in April, Sony to Recover Sales Says Analyst
crevans, your right. But they included all the extra stuff that no one really wants. A hard core gamer doesnt care to spend extra for the bluray. So why make them pay for it? Also, I think what this really comes down to is they were a year late and not as many good games.
